The price of YouTube video editing depends on the amount of raw footage, episode style, work on sound and image, and the number of additional versions. At SVISUALS, we price the agreed scope individually. To compare offers, describe the same requirements to each provider. The length of the finished video alone is not enough to determine the cost.
Does SVISUALS have a single editing price list?
We do not have one rate suitable for every video. We prepare an individual quote after defining the scope. For the first conversation, a link to the channel or example, number of recordings, episode length, and publication plan are sufficient. Sending an inquiry is free and does not require an account.
Why the length of the video alone is not enough
The editor primarily prices the scope of work. The amount of raw material, storytelling method, number of additional elements, and expected level of refinement matter. Therefore, two videos of the same length can have completely different prices.
| Format | What affects the work | What to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Expert video from one camera | Selection of speech, cuts, sound, and colour correction. | Are cutaways, subtitles, and graphics needed? |
| Podcast from several cameras | Synchronization of image and sound, selection of shots, and conversation editing. | Does the scope include a full episode and short clips? |
| Dynamic entertainment episode | Selection of multiple shots, pace, sound effects and animations. | Which reference film shows the expected style? |
These are examples of scopes that help describe the inquiry. Preparing files is made easier by the guide to preparing materials for editing.
1. How much material needs to be reviewed
The first cost is selection. If a 10-minute film is to be made from 30 minutes of footage, the material can be reviewed relatively quickly. If the finished film is to be made from four hours of recordings from several cameras, just watching, describing and synchronising the files takes a significant part of the work.
Preliminary selection of the best shots, a clear folder structure and brief information about which parts are most important help. This shortens the preparation stage without lowering the quality of the film.
2. How intensive the editing should be
Not every channel needs the same pace. It is worth specifying in the inquiry which level of production your material is closest to:
- Simple expert material: selection of statements, basic cuts, music, colour correction and clean sound.
- Dynamic YouTube film: frequent shot changes, cutaways, zooms, graphics, sound effects and work on pace.
- Elaborate production: multiple cameras, animations, compositing, advanced sound design, individual graphic style and precise colour grading.
3. Graphics, animations and additional materials
Title cards, charts, maps, product animations or visual identity elements need to be prepared and matched to the film. If the client has a ready graphic package, the work proceeds faster. If the style needs to be designed from scratch, the quote also includes this stage.
The availability of cutaways is also important. If they are not in the provided material, stock footage must be searched for, licences checked or an alternative visual solution prepared.
4. Sound, subtitles and colour
A good film is not just cuts. Cleaning the recording, equalising volume, selecting music, sound effects, colour correction and subtitles also require time. Automatic transcription helps, but errors still need to be corrected, sentences divided and readability ensured.
5. Number of rounds of corrections
Before starting cooperation, it is worth agreeing how many rounds of corrections the price includes. One organised list of comments from all decision-makers is much more efficient than several messages sent on different days. Further changes of concept after the edit is approved may require a separate quote.
6. Deadline
A short deadline may mean working outside the standard schedule or postponing other projects. If the publication date is known in advance, it is worth providing it in the first message. This allows planning editing, corrections and final export without nervously finishing the film on the day of the premiere.
What to send to get a specific quote
- The planned length of the finished film and the approximate amount of raw material.
- Link to the channel and two or three films showing the expected style.
- Information about the number of cameras, separate sound, graphics and subtitles.
- Deadline for the first version and planned publication date.
- Information whether it is a single film or the start of a regular series.
How to compare editing offers
The lowest amount does not always mean the lowest cost of the entire project. Check whether the offer includes colour correction, sound processing, licensed music, subtitles, thumbnail, number of corrections and preparation of versions for additional platforms. This way you compare the same scope, not two completely different services.
The cooperation model also affects work organisation. See the comparison of freelancer and editing studio, and confront the scope of work with published SVISUALS projects.
How to reduce cost without lowering quality
- Organise files and remove accidental or failed recordings.
- Indicate the best shots and the most important parts of statements.
- Prepare one specific brief and visual references.
- Collect comments from the whole team in one place.
- For regular publication, establish a fixed format, intro, graphics and working method.
How to plan a budget for regular channel editing
Separate the cost of the first film and style preparation from the repetitive editing of subsequent episodes. In the monthly scope, specify the number of films, their length, amount of raw footage, corrections and additional clips. Compare offers for the same scope. New animation, additional episode or shortened deadline should not be automatically treated as part of an unlimited subscription.
